Yarno Nesta, 100, passed away April 21, 2021 peacefully in his home with his family at his side.
He leaves his son, John Nesta and his wife Elaine of Calgary, Canada and 2 grandsons, James and Andrew.
Yarno was born in Oxford March 9, 1921 son of the late Angelo and Thespina (Prifty) Nesta and has lived in Oxford all his life.
His wife of 65 years, Sophie ‘Connie’ (Constantine) Nesta predeceased him as well as a brother, John and sisters, Sophie, Mary and Claire.
He was a successful business man in Oxford for many years, and was a member of the Oxford Lodge of Masons and Shriners, a member of Oxford
Rotary Club and was past chairman of the Building Committee at Bay Path Regional Vocational High School.
Yarno served his country during WWII as a pilot in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged as a Jr. LT. in the Pacific.
He and Connie also resided in Popano Beach, Florida for many years.
The Town of Oxford recently celebrated his 100th birthday with a drive by his home with over 50 cars of residents, friends and veterans, which he enjoyed.
There are no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be Wednesday, April 28,2021 at 1pm in North Cemetery, Oxford with Military Honors provided by the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard.
Social distancing and masks will be required.
