George Sirois
February 4, 1943- March 26, 2021
AUBURN: George Sirois, 78, died Friday, March 26, 2021 at Umass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus due to neurological damage caused by a cardiac event. He leaves his son George Sirois, Jr. of Auburn, MA; his sister Christine Hannon of Rowlett, Texas; his nieces Jennifer Hannon of Fate, Texas and Debi Bell of Fairhaven, MA; in-laws and other extended family. His wife, Frances, predeceased him in 2020.
George met his wife at Civil Air Patrol while they were in high school. They dated for four years before marriage, while George went to college. He graduated from Wentworth Institute and the University of Lowell. George was an Analog Engineer, who spent most of his career at Digital Equipment Corporation. He worked there for 24 years. Even retired, he designed electronic circuits to keep his mind sharp.
George enjoyed a lifelong obsession with Chess. Over the years, he also took interests in Calligraphy, Drawing, Knot Tying, History, Country Music, Catholic Studies, and Sherlock Holmes. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart- St. Catherine in Worcester.
After cremation, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The family suggests donations in memory of George may be made to researching a cure for Diabetes. Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with the arrangements.
