Ludgero Neves, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, April, 22nd. He was 83. Born and raised in Faial, Portgual. He was the son of the late Manuel and Innocencia (Goulart) Neves. Ludgero’s biggest passion was his family. He enjoyed being an Avo, spending time with his grandchildren Danny and Melanie. He especially enjoyed being around his great grandson Devin, they shared a special relationship.
When Ludgero was not spending time with his family, he would watch soccer from the comfort of his home, listening to the daily sportscast and singing along to his favorite music on the radio. A natural foodie Ludgero was always up to going out to eat. His favorite meal was a prime steak accompanied by a fine glass of wine.
Ludgero was the beloved husband of 52 years to his loving wife Zelia (Leal) Neves. He was the devoted father of Georgina Neves. He was the loving Avo of Danny Janeiro and Melanie Janiero and her fiancé Nathan Raposa. He was the great Avo of Devin Janeiro. He was the dear brother of Carlos Neves, Gina Furtado, Antonio and Joe Periera. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Thursday, April 29th, from 9 to 11 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 360 Main St., Medford, followed by a funeral mass celebrated at St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Social distancing protocols will be in place during all services.
