Thomas B. "Tom" Hockema, 67, of Pendleton died unexpectedly of natural causes Sunday at his residence.
Tom was born and lived his entire life in Madison County. Following graduation from Highland High School in 1971, he went to work for General Motors Delco Remy, where he remained until he retired in 2002 after 30 years of dedication.
Tom was skilled in many ways and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and talents with family and friends. Whether home repair, gardening or scoping out a new car purchase, Tom was generous with his time and wisdom to help others. In retirement, he was masterful at scouring rummage sales and auctions for good deals. His knowledge of antiques and many other things was enviable.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas K. Hockema and Ruth Caroline Woodyard and his sister, Jeanne K. Hockema; father-in-law, Ralph Willoughby and sisters-in-law, Kathy Willoughby and Shelly Willoughby.
Tom is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christina "Tina" (Willoughby) Hockema; mother-in-law, Shirley Willoughby; son, Matthew (Tennille) Hockema; daughter, Amy (Jeff) Belter all of Anderson; grandchildren, Michelle Hockema, Taylen Davis, Marc Wiles, Chase Wiles, Rori and Riley Belter; sister, Kerry (David) Kane of Elwood; brother-in-law, David Willoughby; plus several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday from 12:30 p.m. until service.
