Leicester – Roy Wheeler, 88, of Leicester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in Saint Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Wheeler is survived by his loving wife, Wendy (Devault) Wheeler; his children, Gary Wheeler of Lowell, MA, Brian Wheeler of Lee, NH, Denise Peduzzi of Dudley, MA and Michelle Desjardins of Leominster, MA; two sisters, Vaughn Davis of Waterloo, NY and Marlene Maston of Adelanto, CA; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Roy was born in Seneca Falls, NY son of the late Roy M. and Meridith B. (Vorsburgh) Wheeler and is also predeceased by a son, Keith Wheeler; a daughter, Cynthia Baxter and seven brothers and sisters.
Mr. Wheeler grew up in New York and was proud of the fact that he was the New York State Champion of wrestling in 1951, he then served in the United States Army and graduated from the former Lowell Technological Institute, which is now UMass Lowell. Roy worked for over 20 years as an electrical engineer with Sprague Electric retiring in 1990.
Roy was an avid gardener and a member of the Jehovah Witness of Leicester Congregation where he was a zealous preacher and teacher of the “Good News”. Mr. Wheeler was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He constantly put the needs of all others above his own.
Private funeral services are being held and under the direction of Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester.
