Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Loretta (Levaggi) Sears, 86, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Morrisville, Vermont on February 3, 1935, a beloved daughter of the late John and Marie J. (Messier) Levaggi. She was raised in Morrisville, graduated from People's Academy in Morrisville and had moved to Springfield in 1960 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed as a Machine Operator for 22 years at Springfield Wire and retired in 1999. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Springfield and was an active member of the Springfield Senior Center. During her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching NASCAR races, cheering on her Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Celtics and was a longtime season ticket holder of the Boston College Eagles where she attended many games. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, William G. Sears, Jr. who was Called Home on January 16, 1993. They were married on July 30, 1960 at Holy Cross Church in Morrisville, VT and were blessed with over 32 years of happiness together. She leaves her four loving children, Brian J. Sears and his wife, Taryn, of West Springfield, Michelle M. Sears of Indian Orchard, Michael M. Sears and his wife, Cynthia, of Chicopee and Kevin J. Sears and his wife, Cynthia, of West Springfield; her eight cherished grandchildren, Colton and Cayson Sears, Alyssa O'Connor and her husband, Kristopher, Jillian Bowyer and her partner, Nick, Daryl Bowyer and his fiancée, Nicole, Danielle Pursey and her husband, Sam, Nicolas Brosseau and his wife, Brittany, and Elizabeth Sears; her five cherished great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Sarah, Aidan, Makenzie and Hudson; her dear brother, Maurice "Buck" Levaggi of Essex Junction, VT; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two dear brothers, Dean and Lawrence Levaggi; and her two dear sisters, Virginia Tallman and Ernesta Levaggi. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 405 Boston Road, Springfield, MA 01109. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home, Church and cemetery attendance are limited due to state regulations.
