FALL RIVER – Manuel M. Affonso Jr., 76, of Fall River, MA passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecelia (Moreira) Affonso. Born in Fall River he was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Mello) Affonso.
Manuel retired as an Industrial Instructor for the Massachusetts Department of Correction at Norfolk; he was a manager at Zayre Department Store. He liked going to the Zeiterion Theater, loved golfing with his family and friends on warm Sunday mornings and relished watching the Giants win. His most treasured times were family gatherings.
He is survived by two sons Michael Affonso and Ronald Dias (wife Sandy) of Fall River and one daughter Christine Martin of Westport. He was the grandfather of Alissa Furtado, Katelyn Dias and Lee Martin Jr. He was the brother of Jesse Affonso and Rosemary Macek, both of Somerset and the late David Affonso. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place from Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main Street on Tuesday, April 27th here for family at 8:45 A.M. followed by a mass of Christian Burial for all to attend at Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be at Notre Dame Cemetery.
