He is survived by his companion of 15 years and wife of 10 days, Judith M. Vokes; 2 sons, Philip A. Jacques of Ocala, Florida and Michael L. Jacques of Southbridge; 2 step-daughters, Amanda M. Robinson and Suzanne E. Hogan both of Tega Cay, South Carolina; 5 step-grandchildren, James Uloth, Rhiannon Hogan, Grace Uloth, Andrew Boyd and Mikhal Uloth; a step-great-grandson, Isaiah McKnight; his brother-in-law Thomas A. Vokes; 2 aunts and an uncle, Read and Lorraine Rich of Maine and JoAnne McGuire ; his former wife, Patrica A. Miller-Mangen; and several cousins. His sister, Dianne E. (Jacques) Smith, died on April 5, 2021.
He was born on July 12, 1952 in Webster. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard P. and Rita E. R. (Ethier) Jacques, both of whom died in 2020. He graduated from Saint Anne’s Elementary School in 1966 and from Bartlett High School in 1970. While in the Navy he studied Avionics. He earned his Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Jacques was retired from Satisloh North America. He taught electrical engineering at Lincoln Tech in Lincoln, RI and was an instructor for NSCA where he wrote many of the training manuals. He also installed sound systems in many area churches.
Norm was a gifted singer and bassist who played with local bands including Matrix, Jack Gaddis, Esmerelda, Sabre, and most recently Jericho and Spur. His voice would remind you of Jack Bruce and would shine through when he sang any of the 60’s hard rock classics. One of his greatest joys was having both sons share his love of music as well as sharing their passion for music and auto racing.
He was proud of his recent Ham Radio license and was looking forward to reaching the other side of the world with his new antenna or even outer space, a passion he showed in his multitudinous collection of Star Trek books and collectables. He touched a lot of people with his generous spirit and true friendship.
A graveside service will take place on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Old Worcester Road, Webster (please meet at cemetery). Donations in his memory may be made to the Bartlett High School Music Program, 52 Lake Parkway, Webster, MA 01570.
