Raymond A. Davignon, 83, of Acushnet passed away Wednesday April 14, 2021 after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Patricia A. (McGrath) Davignon; they had been married for 60 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Silva and Angelina (Valley) Davignon, he lived in Acushnet for most of his life, in the home that he built.
He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Raymond was formerly employed as a carpenter for Lucien St. Amand Contractor. He later worked as a custodian at St. Francis Xavier School in Acushnet.
He served in the Army National Guard and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. For many years he was active in the Acushnet Youth Athletic Association coaching both baseball and basketball. He was also an avid bowler who participated in the Contractors Bowling League.
Raymond was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Working in his garden and yard was his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; three sons, Stephen Davignon and his wife Haleigh, Daniel Davignon and his wife Karen, and David Davignon and his wife Wendy; his siblings, Angelina Robillard, Lauretta Beals, and Roger Davignon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Evelyn St. Amand, Doris St. Amand, Irene Polston Pepin, Yvonne Davignon, Alfred Davignon, Leo Davignon, and Rene Davignon.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday April 24, 2021 at 11:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet. Visiting hours are omitted.
