Carroll Daniel Applewhite, 92, of Tifton passed away Monday, April 19, 2021, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Cory Hand officiating. Mr. Applewhite will be laid to rest at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Bruce Applewhite, Paul Applewhite, Nicole O’Neal, John Davis IV, Heath Hosch and Ellen Applewhite will serve as pallbearers.
Born February 8, 1929 in Allen, Mississippi, Mr. Applewhite was the son of the late Guy Applewhite and Odessa Hartley Applewhite. He received his Master's Degree in Entomology from Mississippi State University and, before retiring, he was an entomologist with FMC. He was a member and former chairman of deacons at Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War.
Mr. Applewhite is survived by his wife, Margie Fallin Applewhite of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Lena Applewhite of Warner Robins, Paul and Linda Applewhite of Seattle, Washington and John Baldwin III and Shelly Davis of Tifton; one brother, Robert Applewhite of Poplarville, Mississippi; one sister, Doris Hays of Jackson, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Nicole O’Neal, John Davis IV, Heath Hosch and Ellen Applewhite; and three great-grandchildren, Jase Morris, Kendall Morris and Jaxon Morris.
