Janice R. Eddleston, 81

Janice R. (Keene) Eddleston, age 81, a lifelong resident of the Chartley section of Norton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield. She was the beloved wife of Retired Norton Deputy Fire Chief Robert S. Eddleston, Sr. to whom she was wed on July 9, 1960.
Born in Attleboro, MA on February 18, 1940, she was a loving daughter of the late Benton W., Sr. and Rose D. (Cummins) Keene.
Jan grew up in Norton and was a 1958 graduate of Norton High School. A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, she also helped in the operation of the family business, the former Wetherell Paint Store in Chartley and when younger worked at the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro.
Mrs. Eddleston was a lifelong member of the Chartley United Methodist Church, where she served as a former treasurer and longtime volunteer. For over twenty years, she supported the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Greater Attleboro.
Jan’s husband, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were the essence of her life and she lovingly took exceptional care of her late mother Rose. Her favorite times were those spent at the family’s Cape House in Falmouth, where she especially enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her grandchildren. She, along with her husband Bob were avid travelers and her hobbies included ceramics and spending time at the beach.
In addition to her husband of nearly sixty-one years, she is survived by her devoted children: Pamela A. Eddleston and her longtime companion Thomas Whittingham of Attleboro and Robert S. Eddleston, Jr. and his companion Kathie St. Pierre of Norton. She was the dear sister of Retired Norton Police Chief Benton W. Keene, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Norton, A. Thomas Keene and his wife Sharon of North Attleboro and the late Susan Wilson. She is also survived by her cherished 17 grandchildren, including Robert Eddleston, III and his wife Samantha and Angela Eddleston, 5 great grandchildren, including Jacob and Owen Eddleston, 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as many-many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Burial will be held privately at a later date at the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 19th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
