Childs, Virginia (Talanian), of Pembroke, previously of Milton, Bourne and Hingham, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Bridges by Epoch. She was the beloved wife of the late Lt. Col. Morgan G. Childs, Jr and is survived by her eight cherished nieces and nephews: Mark (Tina) Talanian, Valerie (Thomas) Foley, Kathleen (William) Lambert, Donna Talanian Russo, Bryan (Carol) Talanian, Pamela Talanian McGrath, Andrea (Eric) Lindsey, and Bruce Talanian. She is also survived by nineteen treasured grandnieces and grandnephews, and four great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Devoted sister-in-law of Carol (Floren) Talanian and Lucy (Movsesian) Talanian and leaves behind many dear cousins. Born to Armenian Genocide survivors Oscar and Altoon (Baronian) Talanian, Virginia was raised in Dorchester along with her three siblings, the late Alice, Ralph and Nishan Talanian. A graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls and Boston Clerical School, Virginia’s expertise in the business field culminated in her roles as the Executive Secretary to former Massachusetts Governor John Volpe, Sidney Rabb of Stop and Shop Inc., and as secretary of the Milton Police Dept. She was a multi-talented artist, singer, cake decorator, and seamstress. She also enjoyed golfing, cooking, and woodworking with her husband. Known for her exquisite taste, Virginia never passed up the opportunity for a great shopping spree! A world class traveler, she was fortunate to have visited many countries twice, but nothing pleased her more than entertaining her family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at St. Stephen’s Armenian Church, 38 Elton Ave. Watertown, MA Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:00-12:00 noon, immediately prior to the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Stephen’s Armenian Church, 38 Elton Ave., Watertown, MA 02472 or to Beacon Hospice (Checks payable and mailed to Amedisys Foundation, 32 Resnick Road, Ste. 3, Plymouth, MA 02360) whom the family thanks for their extraordinary care of Virginia.
