Obituary

Michael J. Quigley, known to friends and family as Mikey, Big Uncle Mike, Little Mike, Miker-do, or Quigley, passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2021, at thirty-six years of age due to complications from a recent weight-loss surgery.
A Taunton native, Mikey was known most for his generosity, his sense of humor, and his innate goodness of spirit. On Monday nights, you’d find him at Wendall’s Pub in Norton, hanging with friends before heading to someone’s house to play board games like Trouble. Mikey loved all kinds of games, especially video games; he could play stuff like Sea of Thieves with his friends for hours with no particular endgame.
His friends, the people he loved, were so important to him. He shared a very special bond with his 5-year-old nephew, his brother Jason's son, and loved to spend time playing tag and hide-and-seek with Patrick. The thing he wanted most in the world was for people around him to have a good time, and to make the best out of every situation. No matter what, he would drop everything just to make sure someone had the help they needed, even if it inconvenienced him. He was a good person, and good people are hard to come by.
Music was one of his other passions. He liked to support his musician friends by catching their shows at bars in Boston, even covering himself in UV paint so he could glow in blacklight like the singers onstage. Every party he went to, he brought his acoustic guitar, and whenever there was a lull in the conversation, he’d start playing and singing to break the silence.
Mikey loved working on cars and was always fixing one for someone. If anything needed to be fixed, Mikey was the one everyone would call. He always had a jug of milk in his hand and on some days, a fishing pole. His mother Nancy will miss him yelling at his video games from his apartment downstairs. His sister Lyndsey will miss his loud truck blaring country music at 4:00 AM.
Mikey is survived by his father and mother, Michael and Nancy Quigley, his siblings Kevin, Jason, and Lyndsey, his nephew Patrick, and his grandmother Beverly Kantrowitz of Troy, NY, not to mention his extended family and multitude of friends. A Celebration of Mikey’s life is being planned by his siblings for immediate family and his close friends. Donations to Boston Children's Hospital in Mikey's name are welcome.
“Love you, homie. You should be here.”
