Obituary

One of life’s greatest tragedies is when an incredible story comes to an end, especially when that story is told by a talented & exciting storyteller. Donald Sabourin was just such an orator; he passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, Thurs. April 8th.

Born in Roslindale, most of his stories begin there where he met and got into good trouble with his friends whose friendships lasted his lifetime. Those stories continued to be built from his time in the army national guard, where he rose to the rank of 2nd Lt.; to the lifetime of outdoor excursions hunting & fishing with his family.

A diligent & skilled carpenter who worked his way up to Vice President of Operations, Don was an amazing mentor & loved to teach all he knew to anyone who needed his guidance. Never one to shy away from a good time, Don loved getting together with his friends & family where he would, once again, regale all in attendance with story after story while dancing to Hall & Oates. Some people might have been intimated by his tall stature if they didn’t know him but those who knew him knew that his heart was firmly planted on his sleeve.

Being his friend was something of an honor, you never had to wonder if he had your back. He was always willing to give you the shirt off that back and the last beer from the fridge. And then he would sit you down, and the stories would begin to flow. Stories that you hoped would never end.

Donald is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy (Caddick) Sabourin of Franklin, his children, Christopher D. Sabourin and his wife Debra of Foxboro, Meredith D. Baguma and her husband Geoffrey of Franklin and Scott R. Paulson and his wife Cindy of New Jersey, a brother Henry C. Sabourin, Jr. and his wife Angela of VT, & a sister Nancy Sonia and her husband Edward of Roslindale.

Also surviving are his 8 beloved grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Due to COVID-19 a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 75816 Topeka, KS 66675-8516
