Auburn – Marilyn J. (McTigue) Atchue, 87, of Auburn, died peacefully in her home on Friday, April 9, 2021 while surrounded by her family.
Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, William J., Atchue who died in 2002. She is survived by her two sons, William M. Atchue of Leominster and Michael T. Atchue of Northbridge; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and many nephews and nieces. Marilyn was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Spring) McTigue and is also predeceased by a brother, Donald “Sonny” McTigue.
Marilyn worked for many years in the bakery department at the former Big D Supermarket located on Mill Street in Worcester but she was truly devoted to her family. Her love for baking extended outside of work and she loved to be with her family during Christmas Season. She was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots and she could often be found outside in the fall enjoying the many colors of the fall foliage.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 12 from 10 to 11:30 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. A procession to Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester will immediately follow the calling hours where Marilyn will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Marilyn may be made to American Heart Association 300 5th Avenue Waltham, MA 02451
Face coverings and social distancing guidelines will be in effect for anyone attending the funeral services.
