Elnita Adkison, 78, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Callie Garbutt Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. James Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Ms. Adkison was born July 7, 1942, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late John L. & Mattie Rowell Lupo. She was a 1960 graduate of Irwin County High School. Together with Myrtleen Walker, they owned and operated Golden Girls cleaning service for over 30 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Callie Garbutt Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sonya Chaney of Ocilla; son, Michael & DeAnn Adkison of Ocilla; grandchildren: Nicholas Chaney & Jessi, Wade Chaney & Kimberly, Bailey Chaney & Cam, Lee Bridges & Autumn, Jennifer Martinez & Robert, and Ethan Adkison; and great-grandchildren: CelVie Chaney, Freyr Chaney, Abbie Ellington, Kaleb Helms Chaney, Maddie Chaney, Faith Chaney, Stella Martinez, Ezra Martinez, Elias Martinez, Braxton Bridges and Mary Maddox Bridges. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Frances Willis, Carrie Crews, Louise Harper and Jinny Sewell and one brother, James Lupo.
