Laura Jean Fitzgerald, age 60, a fourth-generation, lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away on March 31, 2021. She was the beloved daughter of Jean Elliott Fitzgerald and the late Edward Dillon Fitzgerald, Jr.
Born, raised, and educated in Winchester, Laura was a graduate of Winchester High School with the class of 1978. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served a total of six years, serving her enlistment and then extending it at the request of the government, and obtaining the rank of Sgt. Upon discharge, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Maryland, and her Master of Science from Troy University. She also attended the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts and became a professional chef.
Laura was dedicated to her career as a Realtor, working with several local brokerages as an independent agent until founding Winchester Realty in 2017.
In her spare time, Laura enjoyed riding her motorcycle with friends, summertime on Lake Winnipesaukee, and loved to share her cooking skills by preparing meals for family and friends. She also volunteered much of her time in the Winchester community and beyond as a member of many clubs and organizations, including the Winchester Town Day Committee Co-chairperson, The Winchester Council on Aging, The Winchester Housing Partnership Board, the Winton Club, and the Council for Disabled and Limbless Veterans.
In addition to her mother, Jean, Laura is lovingly survived by her fiancé, Greg Malisos and his daughter Hayden, her siblings: Karen and her husband Jim, Amy, and Ted and his wife Kristen. She was the devoted and much-loved aunt of Maya, Mary, Dillon, Danny, Cameron, Audrey, Edward and Faye, and is further survived by many relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Tuesday, April 6, from 4-8 PM and are reminded to wear masks, enter through the front door, and practice social distancing.
