Beloved son, brother, nephew and friend, Shawn Patrick Sarel passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 23. A lover of good live music, and history he could be found rocking at any music festival or getting lost for hours at a museum. An avid fisherman and lover of the outdoors, a fishing pole and time at one of his “honey holes” was all he needed. Shawn lived a life full of love, adventure, and excitement. Shawn was a 2016 graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, NH. Shawn also was a member of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corp. Here he achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer and was awarded both the Daughters of the American Revolution medal and Sea Cadet of the Year. His humor and smile remain in the hearts of everyone who loved him, and his charismatic, kind, and adventurous spirit will live on in those he touched forever.
Shawn is survived by his mother Amy Stokes and his step-father, Gary Stokes, both of Dracut, MA, his sister Samantha Sarel of Derry, NH and his father Thomas Sarel of Derry, NH.
A walk-through wake with masks, social distancing, and limited interaction with the family will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 1 – 4 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry.
