Lorraine Ann (Pillmear) Szaro, 84, formerly of Richmond, RI, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Royal Westerly. She was the wife of the late Frank Andrew Szaro.
Born in Fall River, she was daughter of the late Henry and Grace J. (Platt) Pillmear. Lorraine was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. She met Frank, the love of her life, in Westport, MA, and were married in 1956. With Frank's job being a flight engineer, they frequently relocated and created their home in numerous states over the years. They moved to Richmond, RI in 1968 where Frank built her a home and she enjoyed living and raising her family. Being the youngest of 10 children and raising 6 of her own, she always embraced having an abundant household of family to entertain. When Frank passed in 1983, Lorraine honored his memory and continued devoting her life to her family and faith. She was a Communicant of Carolina Free Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and enjoyed helping out with community events.
She is survived by her loving children: Mark Szaro and his wife Lisa of Westerly, RI, Jay Szaro and his wife Sheila of Westport, MA, Scott Szaro of Delray Beach, FL and his wife Pamela Szaro of Lincoln, RI, Gayle Kissinger of Hopkinton, RI, Sheryl Edwards and her husband Phillip of Hope Valley, RI and Debra LaChance and her husband James of Stonington, CT; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Kevin Szaro and sister of the late Henrietta Chipperfield, Ella Gosson, Lillian Costa, Catherine Crowther, Florence Rezendes, Lena Halliwell, Margaret Carreiro, Henry Pillmear and Barbara Buck.
The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Westerly for all their loving care and support over the past two years.
