Camille J. “Chappy” Chapdelaine, age 95, passed away peacefully in Renaissance Manor on March 22, 2021 in Holyoke, MA. Camille is survived by his three sons, David of Chicopee, Alan of Easthampton and Bruce of Washington State. He is also survived by sister in law Mildred Chapdelaine of Holyoke. He leaves four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and was a loving uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a very dear friend Marie Day. He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy M. (Smart) Chapdelaine, four brothers, Roland, Romuald, Florian and Urbain and one sister Rosaria. He was born on Sept. 25, 1925 in Chicopee and has been a lifelong resident. Son of the late Ubald and Blandine (Brouillard) Chapdelaine. He attended Chicopee High School. He was a U. S. Navy World War II Veteran. Chappy married Dorothy in 1948. He was a communicant of St Anne Church in Chicopee. He owned and operated former Chappy’s Cleaners in downtown Chicopee. He worked 10 years at Larose Dairy delivering milk. Later in life he began working for the Chicopee Post Office as a clerk where he retired after 32 years of service. Camille was a member of the Fairview Knights of Columbus #4044 for over 50 years, where he was a faithful volunteer for bingo nights; a member of the Fairview American Legion, Post 438 for over 25 years; the American French Genealogical Society of Woonsocket, RI and the Association of the Families Brouillard in Canada. He was a former Cub Master of Pack 144 of Aldenville and a member of Assumption Drum and Bugle Corps of Chicopee. Chappy loved to golf, bowl and play cribbage with his friends. He especially enjoyed spending his time researching genealogy. The Grise Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Burial of ashes with Military Honors will take place in Sainte Rose de Lima Cemetery on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
