WAYLAND: Catherine S. McEllin, 84, died peacefully at her residence in Wayland following a period of declining health on March 20, 2021.
She was born in Boston on December 15, 1936 the daughter of the late Martin L. Pendleton, Sr. and Helen G. (Fitzpatrick) Pendleton.
Catherine was the wife of the late Joseph P. McEllin who died on August 31, 2002.
Catherine is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
She spent her formative years in Watertown and was a graduate of Watertown High School. She received her BS in Administration from the Harvard Extension School at the age of 76.
Catherine has been a longtime resident of Wayland and retired after many dedicated years of service as a Court Stenographer with the Superior Court in Dedham.
She loved boating, especially on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire where she and her husband Joe vacationed every summer.
She enjoyed writing and was creating a screenplay to be submitted for consideration for a movie. Catherine was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She will be fondly remembered by her family as being a wonderful and loving aunt.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the John C Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rt. 30), Wayland.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Ann Church, 134 Cochituate Rd (Rt 27), Wayland.
Interment to follow in the McEllin family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery, 999 Belmont St, Watertown.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that gifts in her memory may be sent to Seasons Hospice, 1 Edgewater Place, # 103, Norwood, MA 02062.
Due to the current COVID-19 conditions, masks must be worn and social distancing will be observed at the funeral home, church and cemetery.
