Pauline (Polly) Johnson, age 90, died December 22, 2020 at Prelude Assisted Living, Woodbury, MN. Polly was born to Edward and Louisa (Shen) Pulford on July 17, 1930; raised on a farm at Walker Lake outside Richville, MN, Ottertail County.
Polly graduated from Perham High School in 1948 with honors. She entered nurses’ training that same year at Mounds-Midway School of Nursing, St. Paul, MN, graduating 4 years later as
an RN. This was quite an adjustment from rural farm life to the city . . .
On March 13, 1954, Polly married Harold (Harry) Johnson, and resided in St. Paul, MN. In 1960, they moved to Lubbock, TX, and managed the Culligan Water Conditioning business there. In 1963, they returned to Minnesota and lived in Owatonna until 1966 when they moved to North St. Paul. Polly worked as an RN in Owatonna and continued her nursing career in St. Paul until 1971.
Polly loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and was a long-time member of Hayden Heights Baptist Church, active in the choir, Sunday School, and missions-related work. She was active in the marching band and choir in high school, played piano and loved singing. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and crafts.
Polly loved spending time with her grandchildren and was delighted to have 2 great grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, swimming, time with family and friends, and long drives in the country.
Polly is survived by her sister, Nola Gail Comfort, Maplewood, MN; four daughters, Jody Johnson, Blackduck, MN; Cindy (Carole Mitchell) Johnson, Erhard, MN; Cherie Johnson, Woodbury, MN; Kara (Greg) Youngquist, Cottage Grove, MN; five grandchildren, Sara and Megan (Ryan Knutson) Gross, Bemidji, MN; Nathanial (Deanna); St. Paul, MN; Alex Youngquist, Colorado Spring, Colorado; Isaac Youngquist, Cottage Grove, MN; two great grandchildren: Jacob Gross and Maggie Youngquist plus one on the way; many nieces and nephews.
Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her parents, Edward and Louisa (Shen) Pulford; brothers Riley and Tom Pulford; sisters Sylvia (Ray) Weaver, Maxine (Crofer) Bell; niece Wendi Philips; nephews Stan and Mike Crocfer.
