Ann Nygaard, 63, of Medway, MA, wife of Dennis Nygaard, passed away on March 17, 2021. Ann passed away with her family by her side after a 25-year battle with breast cancer. Ann was born in 1957, the third of four children of the late Raymond N. Grenier and Therese R. Grenier of Sherborn, MA.
She grew up in Sherborn and attended Sherborn schools and Framingham State College. Following college she was employed at the former Framingham Savings Bank and quickly rose to a position in branch management. Ann left the bank to raise her family, which was her pride and joy.
She enjoyed cheering at her children’s sporting events and volunteering her time with Girl Scouts, CCD and school activities. Ann was also a life-long passionate equestrian since the age of seven. She later found her dream job, working with horses, at Pinecroft Farm in Medfield. Here, she worked for 20 years, finding great joy in caring for and riding the horses at the stable.
Ann and her family also enjoyed traveling each year to National Parks in all 50 states and visited over 330 National Park sites. She was an avid gardener, an animal lover and enjoyed tackling home improvement projects with her family. Ann also enjoyed reading, which allowed her to increase her knowledge on a wide range of topics.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her three adoring children: her two daughters, Lindsay Nygaard of North Attleboro, and Leanne (Nygaard) Szwaja and her husband Nick Szwaja of Attleboro and her son Eric Nygaard of Milford. Ann also leaves behind her much-loved three grandsons, Aiden, Reid, and Landon Szwaja.
In addition, she leaves behind her sister Susan McAvoy and her husband John of Millis and their family.
Donations in her memory, if desired, may be made to Mass Audubon, www.massaudubon.org. Funeral services and burial will be private.
