Obituary

PAXTON-Marie B. (Liberty) Early, 91, quietly passed away Tuesday, March 21st in her home in Paxton. Her beloved husband of 67 years, James M. Early, died December 28th, 2003. She leaves a son, Paul J. and his wife Noreen Early of North Brookfield, a daughter Anne wife of Joseph Giangregorio, a daughter-in-law Deborah Early all of Paxton, thirteen loving grandchildren and their spouses, as well as 25 precious great-grandchildren, one sister Kathleen P. Fontaine of Leicester and many caring nieces and nephews. Her son Worcester Police Lieutenant Thomas D. Early, died March 26th, 1999. A brother Alfred J. Liberty, Jr. and two sisters Claire Grady and Elizabeth Hennessey predeceased her.

Marie was born in Worcester the daughter of Alfred and Anne (Kennedy) Liberty. She graduated from Ascension High School and was a member of Notre Dame Alumnae Association. She attended Fairchild Office School in Worcester. After her marriage she became a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish and a founding member of Our Lady of Angels Elementary School. She often transported the Sisters of Notre Dame to school and other locations. She was involved in the establishment of the Notre Dame Academy Mothers’ clubs and had served as its treasurer. She was a nurturing mother with a spirit that extended to all who were fortunate to be part of her life. She kept a meticulous home, enjoyed baking and sharing her famous “jam squares” and often was seen working tirelessly to beautify her yard. All agree that she was a gracious and unassuming lady, whose memory will be forever in our hearts.

The funeral is Saturday, March 25th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Columba Church, 18 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Burial will be in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday, March 24th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. The family requests flowers be omitted and memorial contributions made to UMASS-Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or to the Worcester Police Department Fight for Life Thomas D. Early Scholarship Fund, 9-11 Lincoln Square, Worcester, MA 01608.
