Dianne E. (LaGorce) Harrity, 83, died in her home on March 10, 2021 after a long battle with lung cancer. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Nena (Ustinovich) LaGorce and George A. LaGorce. Dianne lived for her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Glatki of Easthampton, and Nancy Harrity-Lambert and her husband, Rob Lambert of San Diego CA, Joseph Harrity and his companion, Keli Mercadante of Worcester, Michael Harrity and his fiancé, Kimberly Frickey of San Diego, CA, Steven Harrity and his wife, Janine of Valrico, Florida, her sister, Ann (LaGorce) Monfreda and her husband, Jerry of Worcester, and her Aunt Sophie Pignataro. She was lovingly called Goodie by her grandchildren, Michael Glatki of Boston, Morgan, Matthew, Shannon, and Kaitlyn Harrity of Valrico, Florida and Joseph, Timary, Hannah and Quinlan Harrity of Worcester. She was also Auntie Di to many nieces and nephews that she loved so much. She was pre-deceased by her son, Martin “Bub” Harrity; her grandson, Shane Harrity; her sister, Nancy A. Carlson; her brother, George LaGorce, and her former husband, Martin F. Harrity.
She was always quick with a smile and an encouraging and supportive word. She was a devoted Catholic and had a long list of people on her prayer list. She prayed her daily rosary surrounded by ceramic angels that were on every shelf in her home.
Dianne graduated from Commerce High School and worked for Melville Shoe before starting her family with her ex-husband and friend, the late Martin F. Harrity. She was a stay-at-home mom for over 18 years while her children grew. Dianne returned to work as a frontend manager at Big D and later Shaws Grocery store for over 30 years where she made many friends. She loved the beach and spent many happy summers with three generations of family at Old Orchard Beach – Camp Ellis, Maine, White Horse Beach in Plymouth, and at Hampton Beach in NH. She also used to travel to Clearwater Beach in Florida in March with her sisters for many years. She looked forward to the vacations where she would be surrounded by her children, nieces, nephews, and family friends. She was the mother to six children but was happy to take in a lot more. Family meant everything to Dianne. She loved candlepin bowling and enjoyed her golf league at Hilcrest C.C. Her favorite hobby was to shop and find treasures to fill her home that she shared with so many.
The family would like to thank Dr. Walsh and the entire staff at the UMASS oncology department for their care, support, and friendship.
Her funeral is Thursday, March 18th with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 17th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue.
