Dennis Lee McNeil
TEWKSBURY - Dennis Lee McNeil, 71 of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at his home.

He was born in Boston on July 27, 1949 and was a son of the late Richard John McNeil and the late Maria Rose (Rea) McNeil. He was raised in Malden, MA, where he attended the area schools. He got his Associates degree from Wentworth Institute before getting his Bachelor’s degree of Science from Northeastern University in Mechanical Engineering.

He was a lifelong Tewksbury resident. He was proudly making significant contributions as an active Mechanical Engineer for Cobham Inc and had been for many years. He loved to fix and take apart anything he could learn from.

Dennis enjoyed watching and hearing about his children's and grandchildren's school, life journeys and athletic accomplishments and working on and teaching home and auto improvement projects. He also was very passionate about helping children in foster care, adoption and through his contributions to youth athletics as a coach of multiple sports. He loved music and in addition to playing the accordion and the harmonica he had been learning the guitar. He loved spending time in Maine, particularly on Lower Mousam Lake. Although he had many passions throughout his life, above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren particularly camping, cooking, and spending time around firepits.

Dennis is survived by his son, David Lee McNeil and his wife, Penny Shanks and their two children, Karen and Jason of Lowell; his daughter, Pamela Lee Ann McNeil Chalupa and her husband, Andreas Chalupa and their children, Sydney and Samantha of Methuen; and his 6 adopted children and their families, David Allen McNeil and his wife, Lisa Rodriguez of Waltham, Thomas Lee Elia McNeil of Billerica, Richard Joseph Lee McNeil of Meriden, CT and his wife, Christy Scozzari, Jennifer Marietta Ann Schultz and her husband, Robert Schultz and their children, Braedon, Kairi, and Abbeygail of Richfield Springs, NY, Luis McNeil, and Anthony Justin McNeil of Lowell. He is survived by his sister, Marie Keagan and her husband, Tom Keagan of Florida, sister in law Gloria McNeil of Reading, his former wife, Marietta Ann McNeil of Shapleigh, ME; and many nieces and nephews.
