Nydia Mercedes Ayala, 73, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her residence after a period of declining health. She was born, May 28, 1947 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico and was a daughter of the late Salvador and Marciala Rivera Ayala. Nydia moved to the Bronx, NY when she was 9. She then lived in Nashua and Lawrence prior to relocating to Londonderry in 1994.
Nydia had been employed as a Test Technician with Raytheon Corp. for 32 years in their Andover and Lowell facilities prior to her retirement in 2006. She enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and other casinos, high stakes bingo games, and “never met a slot machine she didn’t like”.
Members of the family include her husband of 17 years, Gerard Montmarquette of Londonderry, her sons, Alfred “Freddie” Colon and his wife Julie, Raul “Nene” Ayala and his wife Gricelda, her brother Salvador Ayala and her sister, Hilda Curet and her husband Larry Fuoco. Nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jose “Joey” Colon in 2018.
Walk through calling hours will be held Thursday, March 18th from 4 to 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00am in the funeral home concluding with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, 391 Main Street in Nashua, NH. Due to State of NH guidelines, all guests are required to wear masks, minimize contact and maintain social distancing.
