Longtime Anderson and Markleville resident Edna Laster passed away on March 11, 2021, at age 93. A resident of the area for over 70 years, she lived her final years at Lindberg Crossings Senior Living where she was given loving care in her final days.
Edna was born in Morgantown, Kentucky on January 8, 1928. She spent her career at WT Grant and as a supervisor for Kmart Corporation. Edna was formerly married to Gerald Laster. She spent her adult life raising her three children Jeri Laster Van Dyne (Bruce), Darice Laster (partner Bill Pitts) and David Laster. Edna was most happy when she was reading the NY Times best seller list. She was a member of several book clubs. She loved to sew and over the years she made many memorable items, including baby quilts for family and friends who treasure them dearly today.
Edna was blessed with a loving family. In addition to her children she was loved by her grandchildren Erik Van Dyne, Mark Van Dyne and Tyler Van Dyne. She was adored by numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents (Hershell Embry) and (Ola Fleenor Embry) of Morgantown, Kentucky, brother (Denzel Embry), sister (Elma Embry Evans) and daughter Darice Laster.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Lindberg Crossings Senior Living.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in memory of Darice Laster.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:30 am in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
