Eileen (Tarpey) Bakey, of Medford, passed away peacefully at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. She was 74. She was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Bowe) Tarpey.
Born and raised in Somerville, Eileen attended St. Clement’s School and graduated from Somerville High School. She lived most of her life in Somerville, settling in Medford after retirement. Eileen retired as a secretary for the Somerville School Department, where she served for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A dear friend to many, Eileen looked forward to spending time with family and friends and always enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods. However, there was nothing that meant more to her than spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The beloved wife of Francis P. Bakey, she was a devoted mother to Lauren Sciarratta and her husband John of Burlington, and Nancy Bakey of Chelsea. She was a loving grandmother to Allison and Caroline Sciarratta. Eileen was the sister of John Tarpey of Florida, Michael Tarpey of Cambridge and the late Julia DiPasquale and Matthew Tarpey.
Funeral services will be held privately.
