Lisa M. (Carvalho) Matthews, 54, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday March 9, 2021 after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Joaquim Carvalho and the late Maria Fernanda (Freitas) Carvalho, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Lisa was formerly employed in the housekeeping department of Brandon Woods Nursing Home in New Bedford for 20 years. For the past year she had worked at Amaral’s Linguica Company.
A devoted Christian, she was a member of the New Life Tabernacle.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, family get-togethers, and dancing.
She is survived by her father, Joaquim; three children, Joshua Matthews and his companion Laurel Maciel, William Matthews and his fiancée Kayla Gomes, and Chalia Matthews and her companion Anthony Torres; two brothers, James Carvalho and Robert Carvalho and his wife Daphne; six grandchildren, Jordan Lugo, Anthony Torres, Jr., Kayson Torres, Savannah Matthews, Trevor Matthews, and Rylan Matthews; two nephews, Seth Carvalho and Aiden Carvalho; and a niece, Serena Carvalho.
Her visitation will be held on Sunday March 14, 2021 from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Due to current gathering restrictions, her funeral service and burial will be private. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
