Gene S. Nicholson, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, March 13, 2021, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson and the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mr. Nicholson was born November 15, 1935, in Morgan County, Georgia to the late Henry & Etta Estelle Sosebee Nicholson. He lived in the community all of his life and was an insurance salesman; owned and operated the Chuck Wagon, with his brother Aubrey and owned and operated Nick’s Tire & Auto. Mr. Nicholson loved people and talking with his friends. He enjoyed the breakfast club that met at Puckett’s and McDonald’s. He was a member of Christian Fellowship.
He is survived by his son, Randall & Becky Biggers Nicholson of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Brian & Tina Nicholson of Rebecca, Jeremy & Karli Nicholson of Guyton, Brandon Chaney of Fitzgerald, Kinsey Chaney of Fitzgerald, Dene’ Handley of Hinesville, and Dawson Ruis of Fitzgerald; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Travillian of Fernandina Beach, Florida and special friends Margot Barnes of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Nicholson and five brothers and two sisters.
