Helen F. (Cangiano) Alpers passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning in the care of her loving family. She was 89. A life-long Medford resident, Helen was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Sacco) Cangiano. Devoted to her family, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and enjoyed time at home and in Henry’s beautiful garden. Helen was at her happiest having the family around, cooking, baking and sharing in her family’s love.
The beloved wife of Henry D. Alpers, Helen was a devoted mother to Denyce Mahoney and her husband William of Medford, Diana Berthiaume and her husband Douglas of Andover, Anne Marie Martorana and her husband Allan of Medford. She is lovingly survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The dear sister of Frank Cangiano of Arlington, Thomas Cangiano of Medford, the late Michael, Emmanuel, George, Dr. Albert and Ernest Cangiano, Florence Carpenito and Phyllis Carpinella, Helen also leaves many dear nieces and nephews.
Helen’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday March 15th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Sunday 3 - 6 PM. Please follow social distancing protocols while attending.
