Fenton L. Bennett, age 89, of Brockton, died February 27, 2021 at South Shore Hospital. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Frost) Bennett. Fenton was a graduate of Cathedral High School, attended Bentley University and graduated from Burdett College. Fenton served in the Army during Korea. He was a police officer in Stoughton and in the MDC and also worked at John Hancock Insurance.
Fenton was a mild mannered, generous man and was supportive of his family. He was a faithful, longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Lourdes Churches. He was also an avid reader.
Fenton was the brother of Mary Toomey of Brockton, John Bennett and his wife Louise of Brockton and the late Rev. Joseph, SJ, William and Elizabeth Bennett. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday, March 11, from 10-11am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11:30am followed by burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West Street, Brockton, MA 02301. In following COVID Guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing observed. There is a maximum of 50 people in the funeral home at any one time.
