Andrew M. Havill died peacefully in his Thousand Oaks, CA home on February 23, 2021. Andy was born on November 6, 1957 in Chowan, NC. He was a graduate of Wilton High School, CT and Bucknell University, PA. Andy discovered a love of biology as a child playing in local rivers and ponds and pursued that interest, earning a Ph.D. in physiology. Early in his career, he lectured and conducted research at the Yale University School of Medicine. He retired as a research supervisor at Amgen Biotechnology, CA. Andy was a longtime volunteer at the Agoura Animal Care Center and a generous donor to its supporting non-profits. He shared his home and heart with adopted dogs. He was known and loved by friends and family for his quick wit and wry sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents Reginald (Jerry) and Eleanor Nicholson Havill. He was a loving brother and uncle and is survived by his siblings: Valerie Havill (Maureen), Allison Havill-Todd (David), John Havill; and nephew Arius Oviedo. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of Homeless Animals Southern California, or Healthcare for Homeless Animals to support adoption of animals from the Agoura Shelter.
