Richard E. "Deke" Astle, Sr., 86, of Westport, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. He was the son of the .late Frederick and Lauretta (Carrier) Astle.
Mr. Astle was born in Fall River, MA and had been a lifelong resident of Westport. Prior to retirement, he was the owner/operator of Deke's Auto Sales, Westport. Mr. Astle was a member of the Local #3 Bricklayers Union. He was Champion of Stock Car Racing at Seekonk Speedway and Champion of Lakeville Speedway, he was inducted into the New England Racing Hall of Fame in 2014. He enjoyed working on his antique 1935 Buick. He loved his cat.
Survivors include his son: Richard E. Astle, Jr. and his companion Cynthia of Westport; his 2 daughters: Debra Astle of Fall River and Robin Martori of Westport; 2 brothers: Jon Astle of Westport and Robert Astle of Fall River; 3 grandchildren: Richard Astle III and his wife Rebekah, Lindsay Andrade and her husband Tyler and Alexandria Astle and her fiancé Mark; 3 great grandchildren: James Deacon, Maci and Rilyn; longtime friend: Mike Josefek; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Frederick Astle, Daniel Astle and father-in-law of the late Rick Martori.
