Donald Paul Normandeau, 87, of Fairhaven passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Arthur J. and Antoinette (Remillard) Normandeau, he lived in New Bedford before moving to Fairhaven. He was a graduate of Holy Family High School.
Donald worked for the New England Telephone Company for many years until his retirement.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy.
His passion was golfing. He was a member of the Country Club of New Bedford, as well as the Reservation Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife Pauline, to whom he was married to for sixty-four years; his son Matthew and his wife Jennifer of Fairhaven; two grandchildren, Gabrielle Baumgartner and Alexis Normandeau, both of Fairhaven; two great-grandchildren; his sister Doris Basel of Dartmouth; and nieces and nephews.
Donald was the brother of the late Pauline Gauthier, Evelyn Burke, and Jack Normandeau.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to Southcoast Hospice RNs and the home health aides who made certain Donald was comfortable in his final days.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
