Carl “Big Red” William Hancock, Sr., 78, of Tifton passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Henry Parker and Danny Cooper offering eulogies. Mr. Hancock will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, from 10:00 to 10:50 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed during the visitation and the funeral service.
William Dallas Hancock, Dalton Hancock, Shannon Elder, Scotty Hughes, Javontae Marshall and Francisco Preciado will serve as pallbearers.
Born December 11, 1942 in Tifton, Mr. Hancock was the son of the late Henry William Hancock and Idell Langley Hancock. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Lee Hancock. Before retiring, he was a truck driver for over 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sports and westerns. He served in the Georgia National Guard and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Hancock is survived by his wife, Barbara Cooper Hancock of Tifton; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Carl Jr. and Brooke Hancock of Lenox, William Dallas Hancock and Dalton Kyle Hancock, both of Tifton; one daughter, Carla Hancock and Scarlett of Tifton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Franklin Hancock of Tifton and James and Lois Hancock of Lenox; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Henry Parker of Camilla; two grandchildren, Amy Kate Hancock and Luke Hancock; and several nieces and nephews.
