Obituary



Edda V. (Pietrantoni) Carbone, of Winchester, formerly of Lynnfield and Northfield, VT, passed away on Wednesday, March 3rd. She was 84. Born in Boston’s North End, she was the cherished daughter of the late Giovanni and Giovanna “Jenny” (Ranno) Pietrantoni.

Edda enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great granddaughter. Edda’s family was her pride and joy, and she cherished the time she spent with them. Edda was the epitome of the ideal Army wife; she dedicated her time volunteering for a variety of causes and supported her husband in his military career. They traveled the globe together and explored many different countries. It was from those experiences that she developed her lifelong love of travel. She loved to meet people and was always outgoing and engaging.

Edda was a picture of dignity and grace. She never left the house without a warm smile and her strand of pearls. Everyone who knew her will miss her wonderful sense of humor, her compassion and warmth. She understood and practiced the value of putting others first. She was a wonderful Mother, sister, and friend.

Edda was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late Colonel Anthony Carbone. She was the devoted mother of Lynne Carbone Brown and her husband Christopher, Diana Welch and Gary Welch, Anthony J. Carbone Jr., Cynthia Fagan and her husband Jim, and Pamela Meany and her husband William. She was the loving Nana of Allison, Stephanie, Victoria, Jessica, Laura, James, William, Caroline, Julia, Stephanie, and Anthony. She was the Great Nana of Caroline. She was the dear sister of Frank, Rudolph, Aldo, John, George, Yole, Norma, Cynthia, and Yvonne.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, March 10th at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 - 6 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Social distancing protocols will be in place during all services.
