Obituary

Limerick, Maine - Jack Mansfield, Jack, Jack-O, Dad passed away in his home on February 24th at the young age of 67. Born in Meriden, CT on Christmas Day in 1953, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Helen Mansfield.

Growing up in Wallingford, CT, he found his great love of music and food. He was a vocalist and drummer in the local band ‘1845’, and had his first culinary job at the Choate Boarding School. His interests then took him to New York State, where he furthered his formal education and created the first of his many culinary projects, Frog Dining, in Rhinebeck. There he met his future wife Deb. In 1985 he and Deb, along with his two big brothers and their wives, opened The Restaurant at Forest Hills, in Winooski, VT. While in Vermont he and Deb welcomed the first of their four children into their lives. After moving to Southern Maine, the family continued to grow while Jack fed the patrons of Salmon Falls Country Club in Hollis. Over the years Jack and his family enjoyed many a swim and golf outing at the club, with Jack often clinching victory for the home team with a clutch double bogey. He went on to create meals, songs, and laughter in many kitchens around Southern Maine. A true Parrothead, Jack could often be found year round in shorts and sandals in front of the grill, even when conditions called for parka and snow boots.

Jack is survived by his brother Tom (Linda) of Bristol, VT, brother Tim (Barbara) of Okemos, MI, beloved Niece and several Nephews, his ex-wife Deb Mansfield of Limerick ME and their four children Erica (Adam) Pierce and two grandchildren, Harper and Ozzie, of Acton, ME; Katrina Mansfield and grandson Llanzo Clarke of Milton, MA; Zachary Mansfield of Fort Lauderdale FL, and Travis (Rachel) Mansfield of Cedar Hill, TN.

To know Jack was to love him, to be entertained by him, and to share with him much joy and laughter.

Memorial visiting hours are planned for a later date at the Poitras, Neal and York Funeral Home in Cornish. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.mainefuneral.com.
