Juan Luis Curbelo, 54, of New Bedford passed away at home on Monday February 22, 2021.
Born in Dorado, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Juan Curbelo and Veneranda (Melecio) Curbelo, he lived in New Bedford for the past 30 years.
Luis had different jobs throughout his life including mechanics, carpentry, painting, and his more recent of PCA work as a caretaker.
He was the type of person who wouldn't want you to cry for him. He had a way of making you feel like everything will be okay. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren and the lives they all successfully built. He would want you to celebrate life as he lived everyday like it was his last. He enjoyed cookouts and family gatherings. He loved playing baseball, going fishing, watching wrestling, listening to music, and playing dominos.
Luis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He leaves behind family both in Massachusetts and Puerto Rico, including his spouse, Maria Garcia; his former spouse, Maria Molina; his children, Liz Marie Curbelo, Marieliz Curbelo, Luis Curbelo, Elizabeth Curbelo, Keila Garcia, Keisha Garcia, and Steven Garcia, Jr.; his sister, Carmen Curbelo; his brother, Juan P. Curbelo; his grandchildren, Jesmarie, Jae'lyaz, Mes'zyah, Aniyah, Naelani, Jyelah, Nyasia, Kymani, lmani, Jyzelle, Jaevion, Carel, and Nelliani; and his nieces, Janil and Keyla.
A family visitation and funeral service were held on Wednesday morning March 3, 2021 at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial followed in Rural Cemetery. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
