Obituary

Marion C. Buckner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully in her sleep at the Hannah BG Shaw Home on February 27, 2021 at the age of 90. The daughter of immigrants from Lithuania and Latvia, she was born and raised in Brockton, MA. After graduating from Brockton HS, she attended the Carney Hospital Training School for Nurses in South Boston and went on to serve in the profession for the next 40 years. Among other places, she worked at the VA Hospital in Houston, TX and the Shaw Home in Middleboro.
She met and married Charlie Buckner, her husband of 65 years, in 1950. They moved to Houston after the ceremony but returned to Massachusetts a few years later where they lived for the rest of their years.
Marion and Charlie eventually moved to Raynham where they raised 6 children. She selflessly devoted herself to her children, then doted on her eight grandchildren. She loved animals, especially dogs, having innumerable ones over the years. She was a Cub Scout pack leader, school volunteer and a devout Christian attending the Cavalry Chapel in Raynham for many years.
She loved spending summers at the cottage on the Cape with her kids, and especially enjoyed Skaket Beach and the various ponds in Orleans. After retirement, she and Charlie spent many happy winters in Holiday, FL hosting parties for friends there.
Her children Charlie, Randy, Brian, Dana, Brenda, Gary and their spouses will miss her greatly. Her grandchildren Christian, Sara, Sonya, Rachael, Emma, Amelia, Maya and Julia will cherish many happy memories of time spent with their Nanny. She leaves five great-grandchildren as well: Kaia, Amy, Lyra, Miley, and Anthony.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel at a later date.
