Colleen Marie Whitehead, 53, of Richard Street, Smithfield passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of James Whitehead, Jr. They had been married for 27 years.
Born in Providence, a daughter of Eugene M. Tetreault of Rockingham, North Carolina and Jane M. (Tanner) Tetreault of Smithfield. She had lived in Smithfield her whole life.
Colleen was co-owner of Janes of Smithfield Hair Salon where she built up a loyal client base over the years. She had graduated from the Arthur Angelo School of Cosmetology and Hairdressing in Providence in 1987.
Colleen was a past member of NRI youth hockey. For years she ran the learn to skate program and coached her younger son’s travel team. Colleen recently spent some years bartending at Coach's Pub, which she enjoyed and, again, built a loyal client base. She never missed her son's sporting events. She enjoyed traveling and camping. She was also a well known breeder of golden retrievers for almost 25 years. Colleen's greatest joy was being a mom and spending time with family and friends.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons, James Whitehead, III and his wife Mackenzie of Smithfield and Cole Whitehead of Smithfield, her siblings: Timothy M. Tetreault and his wife Sharon of Rockingham, NC and Jeannie M. Ursillo and her husband, David of Smithfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday March 6th at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Due to COVID regulations, seating is limited.
