Fiorinta “Flora” (Montagna) Cavaliere, age 94, of Medford passed away in the presence of her loving family on Monday, March 1st, in their home in Stoneham. Born and raised in Gaeta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Giuseppina (Battinelli) Montagna. Flora immigrated to the U.S. in her early 20s, settling first in Cambridge. She lived in Medford for over 60 years and along with her husband Guss was the owner and operator of an Italian Market. Flora loved to spend time with her family singing Italian songs.
Flora was the beloved wife of the late Agostino “Guss” Cavaliere, and the devoted mother of Joann Turco and her husband Gaetano of Stoneham, and the late Frances Cavaliere. She was the loving grandmother of Gina and her fiancé Anthony Bistany, and Gregory Turco, and the dear sister of Irma Palumbo and her husband Anthony of Stoneham, and the late Joseph and Libero Montagna. Flora was the loving aunt of John and Michael Palumbo, Michael Picciocchi and Lena O'Connell, and is also survived by her grand-dog Leo.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford on Friday, March 5th at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may gather at the main gate at 11:15 AM. Social distancing protocols will be followed during the service.
