Stoughton – Jose Raposo Borges, age 82, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Blue Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Jose (deMelo) Borges.
Jose was born in St. Michael, Azores, to the late Joao Medeiros Borges and Maria Lourdes (Raposo) Borges. He had worked as custodian at Old Rochester Regional High School for many years.
Jose is survived by his children, Michael Borges and Nelson Borges of New Bedford; grandson, Michael Borges, Jr.; siblings, Maria da Conceicao Silva of New Bedford and Daniel Medeiros of Canada; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, the late Zacarias Medeiros and David Borges.
Jose’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening, March 4, 2021 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. His funeral will take place on Friday, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
