Tony Hutto, 81, of the Holt community in Irwin County, Georgia, died Saturday, February 27, 2021, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Lax Community Cemetery with the Rev. Sammy Smith and the Rev. Allen Arowood officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at Holt Grocery in Holt.
Mr. Hutto was born May 11, 1939, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late R.J. & Daisy “Mammie” McCook Hutto. He was a farmer and worked in final finish for Coachmen Industries. He owned and operated Holt Grocery for many years as well as Hutto’s BBQ. He served as an Irwin County Commissioner for District 4 for 12 years. Mr. Hutto loved his family and especially his grands and great-grands. He was a member of Lax Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glynn Ray Hutto of the Holt community; two daughters: Freida Arowood (Selena Blankenship) and Linda Gail Towson (Harris), all of the Holt community; grandchildren: Toni Dene’ Moody (Chad), Amber Hogan, Ally Arowood, and Will Towson (Misty); great-grandchildren: Karrigen Moody, Lezli Rae Hogan, Connor Towson, Jackson Towson, Jesslyn Merritt (Jordan), and Chad Moody, Jr.; a great-great-grandson, Grayson Merritt; two brothers: Noah Hutto (Shirley) and Robert J. “Dick” Hutto (Lynn), all of Irwin County; and two sisters: Nellie Cauley of Ambrose and Carolyn Tucker of Irwin County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Willie J. Hutto.
