Priscilla A. (Ducharme) MacKenzie, 88, loving wife of the late Donald R. MacKenzie for 53 years, died February 26, 2021 after a brief illness. She was a resident of Whitman for over 39 years.
Born in Lowell, Mass., daughter of the late Pierre and Lea (Perron) Ducharme, she attended local schools and graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.
She spent 30 years of her nursing career as a nurse for the Department of Veterans Affairs, retiring from the Brockton VA Medical Center in 1997.
She and her late husband enjoyed winter vacations in Florida, as well as vacations in Myrtle Beach, SC, and Lake George, NY. She really enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially time spent with her grandson, Ian.
She is survived by her four children: Peter, and his wife, Virginia, of Kissimmee, Fla.; David, and his wife, Melanie, of Brockton; Gregory, of Whitman; and Michelle, of Lowell. She is also survived by her grandson, Ian, of Brockton, her sister, Colette (Ducharme) Fitzgerald, of Lowell, her nephew, Daniel Fitzgerald, of Londonderry, NH, as well as three great nephews, Patrick and Sean Fitzgerald, of Londonderry, NH, Jonathan Fitzgerald, of Ames, Iowa, and a great niece, Suzanne Fitzgerald, of Ames, Iowa, their mother, Dr. Karen Kedrowski, of Ames, Iowa, and two step-granddaughters, Hannah Burke, of Eugene, Ore., and Ashley Burke, of Raymond, NH.
A visitation will be held at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A traditional Catholic funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 9:00am, at the Church of the Holy Ghost on School St. in Whitman. A prayer service will be held later that day at the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Chelmsford, where she will be buried.
