In East Bridgewater, Irene (Langevin) Wrigley, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Sachem Center for Health and rehabilitation at the age of 94. She was born on March 27, 1926 in New Bedford, MA to the late Ellen (Whitehead) and Romeo Langevin. She was the wife of the late John “Jack” Wrigley for 69 years.
She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1944, and the Wilfred Academy in Brockton. She was a hairdresser for over fifty years. She was the past president of the former Immaculate Conception Women’s Guild-now of St. Jude the Apostle Parish. Her catholic religion was an important part of her life.
Irene belonged to the Business & Professional Women’s Club and also a proud member of the Red Hatters and the singing group, the Sweet Adelines, traveling all across the country to perform.
She worked for the Stonehill Book Store and later managed the Massasoit book stores in both Brockton and Canton.
Irene and Jack loved to dance and were the center of attention at many family events. They also loved to travel.
She is survived by her children; Linda and Mark Lincoln, Janet Wrigley, Marcia and Doug Portman, Craig and Karen Wrigley, Keith and Joyce Wrigley, Leah and Mark Dupras, and Kristen and Matthew Barnes. Irene was predeceased by her son Mark Wrigley and her only sibling Ruth (Langevin) Medas. Her grandchildren; Thomas Lincoln, Christopher and Raelyn Lincoln, Megan Lincoln-Hilberg, Brian and Jessica Wrigley, Brendan and Lauren Wrigley, Drew Wriglay, Erica and Jason Richardson, Corinne Reynolds, and Morgan and Ryan Barnes. Her great grandchildren; Fiona, Abigal, Sadie, Haylee, Caden, Julia, Zachary, Calli, Heath, Lara, Spencer and Maia.
Burial is private. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the St. Jude the Apostle Parish of St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, TN. Arrangements are under the care of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton.
