New Bedford – Artur P. Soares, age 79, of Dartmouth, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Eduarda M. (Sousa) Soares.
Artur was born in St. Michael, Azores, to the late Jose Pacheco Alfaiate and Maria da Conceicao (Pacheco) Alfaiate. He had worked as presser for Cliftex Corp. for many years. He loved to watch soccer and his favorite team was Porto. He also loved his garden and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Artur is survived by his wife, Eduarda; his 3 children, Roy S. Soares and his wife Cheryl, Sandra S. Oliver and her husband Mark and Robert Soares and his wife Kimberly; 5 grandchildren, Justyn, Kristyn, Courtney, Hunter and Logan; siblings, Jose Soares and Frank Alfaiate; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Manuel Alfaiate and George Soares.
Artur’s visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. His visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
