Obituary


Alan-Michael Santos, of Wilmington passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the age of 30. Born in Winchester is the cherished son of Philip J. and Laura L (Grealey) Santos of Wilmington.

Alan-Michael was Wilmington resident for most of his life. Growing up he was very active in town sports playing both hockey and football. He was a 2009 graduate of Wilmington High School where he was great student and a member of the DECA Club, which is a competitive business club for preparing emerging leaders for careers in business. Following high school, Alan-Michael went on to attend the University of Southern Maine where he continued his education and maid many lasting friendships.

For the last ten years, Alan-Michael worked as a terminal operator and manager unloading tankers in Boston with Gulf Oil. He was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union of Boston and was recently named Shop Steward. In his leisure time he enjoyed cooking, snowboarding, motorcycles and loved to travel. Alan-Michael will fondly be remembered for his thoughtful and appreciative ways, his generosity and willingness to always place others needs before his own. He was always there when he was needed and would never say no to anyone.

In addition to his parents, Alan-Michael is survived by his devoted brother, Nicholas James Santos of Wilmington. He was the beloved nephew of Richard DiCostantino and wife Sheila of Tewksbury, Kathy Petrella and husband James of Melrose, Robin Grealey of Lawrence, Lynn Santos of Lowell, J.T. Grealey and wife Jennifer of Medford, Daphne Wentzell and husband Michael of Stoneham, Kimberly Osorio and husband Julio of Malden, and the late James Grealey and his late wife Martha, and the late Frank DiCostantino. Great nephew of Patrick Scarry and Daniel Scarry both of Somerville, Alan Tacito of Arlington, Cindy and Bill Kuhns of Vermont. He is further survived by many loving cousins and dear friends.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Tuesday, March 2nd, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main Street, Wilmington, Wednesday, March 3rd, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. All attending must wear a face mask and adhere to strict social distancing protocols. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, please honor Alan Michael and take the time to donate blood or consider a contribution in his memory to the "American Red Cross" and mail to: 101 Station Landing Suite 510, Medford, MA 02155.
