FALL RIVER – Maria de Deus Barroso, age 53 of Fall River, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth after a brief illness, surrounded by her beloved children. Born, Jan. 2, 1968 in Vila da Povoacão, São Miguel, Açores to Leonor Pacheco and the late Antonio Silva.
In addition to her mother Leonor of NY, survivors include her beloved children: Jeffrey Barroso (wife Carina), Nathan Barroso (wife Kristina), Joshua Barroso, Savannah Soares, and Sarah McKinley; Maria’s fiancé: Chris Viega; grandchildren: Camren, Aiden, Noah, Alexander, Eric, Sophia, Londyn, and Neffi; godson: Brandon Arruda; siblings: Fatima Oceguera (husband Trinidad) of NY, Rosemarie Cabral (Husband Mario)of Fall River, Victor Silva of NY, Sandra Silva Pizzuti (husband Cris) of NY, Norma Barajas (husband Luis) of NY, & Suzy Guzman (husband Will) of NY; many nieces & nephews.
Maria emigrated to the United States from São Miguel, Açores at a young age. She attended Nathan Bishop Middle School and Hope High School in Providence. Maria loved spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an animal activist and loved all of God’s creatures. She judged no one and was one of a kind with a golden heart. She will be greatly missed by so many.
Maria’s funeral will take place from the Manual Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Tuesday, March 2nd here for immediate family at 8:45 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass for all to attend in St. Michael’s Church at 10:00 A.M.
